Despite the big smile on her face as she left the X Factor studios last night, Cheryl Cole is allegedly furious at X Factor producers who she feels ?stitched her up? over the Gamu Nhengu fiasco.
Apparently the singer has confided to her pals that producers of the show told her to pick Katie Waisell over Gamu because of her visa ?issues?. A source said:
?She has been made the fall guy in all this. Her decision came down to a choice between Katie and Gamu. She was struggling to choose between both girls as her third act.
"But at this point producers stepped in and told Cheryl there were concerns over Gamu's visa and that for that reason Katie was the safer option? She wasn't totally convinced Gamu had the X Factor or that she was right to be one of her walk-in final three," said the friend. "It turned out her own opinion was irrelevant and even if Gamu had been right to pick, Cheryl's hands were tied."
Publicly though Cheryl has defended her choice of picking Katie over Gamu; on the Xtra Factor the Girls Aloud star told Konnie Huq:
"The acts sing two songs. We hear from them twice and spend a week with them.
"On my gut instinct and help from my co-judge, those were the three that I thought were the best."
"I love Gamu too. I would have liked to take all eight acts through if I could."
Gamu meanwhile has taken part in an emotional interview with the News of The World today, telling the publication that she?s terrified about being sent back to Zimbabwe. She said:
"I have had no calls from Cheryl or from Simon. I haven't spoken to any of the big producers either.
"But I hear that Simon's lawyers are trying to help."
